OUR LITTLE TREASURES: Jollibee

Oh shoots! That’s why that bee is so familiar! I saw it in Singapore and vaguely down the street in Saigon. And yeah, I‘m positive alright -- this is the bee that Bryanboy kept sodomizing on his blog!LOL

Jollibee is a giant Filipino fast food chain that is making waves abroad. They claim to have mastered and fine tuned the Filipino’s taste on their burgers. This got to be an icon! It has to be!

Burgers (my weakness), fries, fried chicken, spaghetti (oh no! not again!), pies and Filipino breakfasts are on the menu. I kept scanning it for an Adobo (their national dish) but nothing. I made some suggestions on my McDonald’s post here about it and I guess this is the right place to make it, yeah?

What makes this fast food chain so famous? Well, number one has to be its strategy. There is no McDonald’s in the Philippines without a Jollibee at least 100 metres next to it. And they also claim to have Filipino “taste”. I think it’s just psychological – a marketing strategy. I guess they pulled it off now that they are opening stores outside the Philippines – what? The taste would only appeal to Filipinos? I think they don’t want us to think that way, yeah?

Sweet spaghetti, oh it’s so sweet! I have to say that this is better than the one in McDo – 269 times over (Morgan said, because I don't eat pork). The burgers? – Ask me another time. The fries are firm and a bit crunchy – just the way I like it.

It could be a nice alternative to McDonald’s but hey – you can’t expect me to change my taste overnight. Ugly Ronald and I been through thick and thin, so am ready to switch sides just yet (or maybe never). But heritage-wise, Jollibee is truly a Southeast Asian pride.
