Our river systems are very important to us -- Our civilizations first flourished along its’ banks and most of our cities are situated next to them. The most important rivers in our region is usually the longest – the rivers that will take us farther inland for trade and navigation. But how do we measure these rivers? -- Geographers calculate the distance from the source of the river to its mouth.

Yup, rivers r so important to d birth of civilizations. I'm just sad, esp here in Mla, Phils., dat r once majestic Pasig River (which beauty can be attested to by vintage photographs & literary writings) have become one big dump site (body of water)of floating waste materials! :-(
I hope Pasig River will be brought to life again.. There is now a ferry service running to asignificant lenght of it. The terminals are new, clean and airconditioned, the ferry is quite okay. :)
