SOUTHEAST ASIA'S BILLIONAIRES

Based on Forbes Magazine’s 2007 list of 946 Billionaires in the World – 21 of them are from the ASEAN. Some are new comers and some are old rich. Well anyway, since I’m not gonna see my name on that list anytime soon… let’s get on with it:

Southeast Asia’s Billionaires:

Every year since 2004, this list changes dramatically. Filipino billionaires which used to dominate the top list are getting booted out of the Top 10 by new comers from Malaysia and Thailand. The youngest of our billionaires is Zhong Shen Jian at 50 and the oldest is Robert Kuok at 85.

Why is Sultan Bolkiah not on the list?

I am surprised to see a Vietnamese making the list but good on him. Apparently, he is the owner of an industrial zone in Binh Duong province in South Vietnam and used to or has been a deputy in the National Assembly. So he is not just rich but powerful as well :-)
