The LARGE HADRON COLLIDER: What in the World!!!

The Large Hadron Collider has been activated an hour ago.

Uhm... what for?

Some kinda sumthin'??

WHAT IS IT???!

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world's largest particle accelerator complex, intended to collide opposing beams of 7 TeV protons. Its main purpose is to explore the validity and limitations of the Standard Model, the current theoretical picture for particle physics. The LHC was built by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), and lies underneath the Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland. (source)

Uhm... COOL! Whatever...

I want one too.

You want a collider? Oh, and what would you do with it? Who would take care of it while you were traveling around?

I bet it would be great for mixing drinks!

Personally, I am saving my money for a PANDA! I am having trouble getting my bamboo to grow....

Hey Big Guy!

You know me, I usually WANT something I DON'T need.

What's with this LHC thingy and the whole dang world is so talkin' about it? I think I missed somebody's blogpost or sumthin'.

The gang is here in Manila. Have you been here? You want me to find a "lost" friend of yours or sumthin'?

Let me know.

Oh! I've read about this is Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. But still, I don't know what this is for.

Anyway, now I know why it's all raining in Manila. Coz you're here! Ha! Take that!

enjoy your stay!

i should ask relatives in grenoble, france about this. it looks pretty cool!

i thought i saw this a couple of days ago being broadcast over BBC. i was pretty much half-awake, half-asleep then but it was cool.

Will there be benefits that we can get with their experiment? hmmm... sounds like a good idea if they can use that to compensate the energy demands of the world...

just kiddin`.!!! Have a good night rainy manila.

Enjoy Manila....

Been there many times! I even wrote my thesis for my Masters Degree on the Phillippines....and I just found out that a few years ago three professors in Manila added their names to that ancient piece of history and published it! Good for them...I hope it made them more money than it did me!

My friends would only get you in trouble....they were always getting me arrested or getting me to have parties where I ended up doing things I never thought I would do....and usually more than once! :)

Enjoy your time!

Oh, and let Sofia know that if you do get a collider then you can put things in it and have them go in one direction to hit things that you put in it going in the other direction....

Maybe you could use it to find the next generation of rice.....

Or maybe use it to slam politicians against each other at very high speeds....

The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world's largest and highest-energy particle accelerator complex, intended to collide opposing beams of protons charged with very high energy. It's in Switzerland and built by CERN.

It is supposed to explore the validity and limitations of the Standard Model, the current theoretical picture for particle physics. It is theorized that the collider will confirm the existence of the Higgs boson, the observation of which could confirm the predictions and missing links in the Standard Model, and could explain how other elementary particles acquire properties such as mass.

Some people are afraid that in performing this experiment the LHC will create black holes or another big bang and the world will end. We'll see about that...

I'm not a physics guy, but I think Dan Brown (Angels & Demons) explained to me like I'm a 5-year old.

Welcome back to Manila! Hope you can visit Corregidor one time.

:)

correct me if im wrong but i guess something like this was mentioned in the book of dan brown which is ANGELS and DEMONS!

P.S.---> i want one too! lolz

i think man is aiming for perfection, trying to discover god's particle.

correction by the way (sorry for my mistake), it's "GOD PARTICLE" w/ out 's. This theory of Peter Higgs proposes the existence of a single particle responsible for imparting mass to all things, also known as Higgs boson.
