A PREDICTION: 20 APRIL 2009

Ok, there... I'm done securing my personal investments and family ventures. Converted half of the funds to gold, a quarter goes to Doha and Dubai and the other quarter is secured to real estate.

I can now make my prediction.

Without scaring myself in the process.

Am I scaring you? Don't be... Or maybe, yes.

I'm just an ordinary guy with an excellent instinct for equity trading, with a solid 14-year personal investment experience, exposed to just about every major market in the world and made a killing [most of the time]... *not to mention education in economics* So, don't take my word for it.

So, what's with the date? C'mon!

20 April 2009.

Well, it's not one of those inter-planetary event involving a fly-by. I can assure you that. No armaggedon yet. No. So, relax.

April 20 will fall on a Monday. A very crucial day in the equity, commodity & futures market. If "the" federal decision is made the week before it... sell everything and stock up!

Prediction --

It will be the day the U.S economy will totally collapse.

20 April 2009. I hope I'm wrong.

NO EXCUSE

I know, I know…we haven’t been posting anything for the past few (waha!) days. And yeah, yeah, yeah...7 blog posts for February is unforgivable. There, I admit it already…so get off me! LOL

This blog post was titled "NO EXCUSE". Well, I lied... here they are;

As you already know the current global economic situation, I have been rounding up my investments in Singapore, Malaysia, China and in the U.S. I’m taking it all back home. I’m not trying to scare anyone here, but yeah, that’s what I’ve been doing for the past weeks. *busy! busy, busy bee*

And also, Morgan and Sofia are nowhere to be found (or be reached) to post at least once and contribute to the blog. I am OFFICIALLY firing them as co-authors. [There… I hope this would alert both useless friends to contact me soon. Haha!]

Another short trip to the Philippines and Cambodia last week to bring YOUR donations to the orphanages I talked about here. The money came from the “clicks” you made on the AdSense adverts found all over this blog.

That’s it. Those are my excuses. Take that!

MISSING SOMEBODY BACK IN BANGKOK

It’s an extended trip for me here. This is supposed to be a 7-day journey but I have to stretch it till the 15th – meaning, I will be spending Valentine’s outside Thailand. *sobs* Here’s an open letter to my baby…

Dear Teerak,

I’m terribly missing you. You know who you are. Look under your foot – I wrote my name on it to claim you as mine. =)

I’m sorry I won’t be home in time for Valentine’s. I really am.

But I’ll send you a hundred roses. And keep one for me. So, you’ll get 99 beautiful red roses.

It may not be enough to say how much you mean to me, but…

... it will say how much I miss you (and how I’ll think of you on Valentine’s while I’m away.)

คิดถึงเธอ,

Pisanu

DUDE! YOU'RE BLOCKING MY VIEW!

This is a public announcement.

To the dude who owns this red scooter (on photo) and keeps parking next to my slot -- please park somewhere else.

I suggest you do your parking next to a Toyota or a Subaru or something. You are blocking my view, dude. Thank you.

This announcement is posted here because I know the whole building, especially the occupants at 15-34th floors, are reading my blog for some time now (I was told).

If any of you knows who own that dang red scooter, please tell him to MOOOOOVE it!

Thank you.

Your loving neighbor up the penthouse,

Pisanu =)

BISEAN ACCEPTS ADVERTISERS IN BEHALF OF THE KIDS

First and foremost, I’ll take this chance to apologize to companies and business people who expressed interest in advertising on BISEAN. I know this has been long over due and we just came up with an idea a few hours ago.

BISEAN is accepting advertisers (for the first time ever) for the benefit of 3 charitable institutions in the region;

1. Phaya Thai Babies’ Home in Bangkok, Thailand

2. Holy Child Orphanage in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines

3. Rumah Charis in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

All profits from our blog advertisers (from 20 Oct 2008- 19 Oct 2009) will be equally divided to the 3 orphanages mentioned above. The advertiser may also choose which of the 3 institutions they wish to be the sole beneficiary of their payment. Our group also visit foreign prisoners in Pattaya and Bangkok to give out personal letters and stuffs.

Our statistics. BISEAN gets 6,000-7,000 unique hits a week. That’s 40K+ hits a month. We are also listed in numerous blog listings in Asia, America and Latin America and mainly reach young professionals.

Our principle. To unite the youths and internet savvy bloggers and blog readers in Southeast Asia in collective appreciation of our region. Visit as many towns and cities as possible to better understand our differences and to seek and celebrate our similarities. Promote the region as “paradise of good people”.

What we do. Our group travels 10-15 days a month around the region. We do not work for any company. We promote our blog by personal encounters and planning to promote it in full force in the coming months. We do reviews, rants and commentaries on just about anything interesting around the region.

What we can do for your company if you wish to advertise here. Aside from your own banner (125x125), BISEAN will post at least 1 blog entry per week leading to your website (for 1-2 mos bond). We would also link it up to any blog post that requires your services. BISEAN would refuse other advertisers with similar business as yours.

Our Rates. BISEAN charges;

US$10 / week for 1 month bond
US$8 / week for 2 months bond
US$6 / week for 3 months bond
US$5 / week for 6 months bond

All proceeds will be marked as: “Contribution of BISEAN and [your company name]” upon donating the funds (or stuffs).

Thank you all in advance.

All inquiries to grant.waine [at] gmail [dot] com – BISEAN Editor.

JUST A LITTLE 你好 FROM 北京!

Hello everybody, สบายดีไหม. BISEAN hasn’t been posting for like days and days and I just thought I should say hi. This blog is already a free-standing blog which means it can go on getting substantial hits a day though not updated for a week. And thank you cool dudes and hot babes who keep coming back here. เยี่ยมยอด เลยจ๊ะ I’m all smiles.

Just so you know, when special events (like the Olympics) occur, we post on our private blog นี่ครับ. I’m sorry not everybody can see it because we post sensitive issues, personal details and our NAKED photos once in a while. Haha! We limit our readers there to our closest relatives and perverted friends. Nyaha!

Sofia, Morgan and I are having a blast here in Beijing. More than 25 of our friends from all over the planet came too mostly because it’s free! Ha! I paid for their airfares in return for this small favour. [All reviews will be posted in the future]

Something’s telling me that the Internet in China is being screened. พ่อขาช่วยฉันด้วย I don’t know for sure but I have a feeling *eyeballs rolled 3 times* I cannot access my other blogs (classified as highly political) from here! So we are sending blogposts by email to either Singapore or Manila (2 of our cities without history of Internet censorship) and route it to Grant to post it by himself. เฮ้อ

I got lots of stories for you. So much things are going on and we don't know what to post first. I kept writing all these time so, don’t worry. We’ll post it when we can. ไชโย Cheers!

BISEAN INVADES KATHMANDU | กาฐมาณฑุ

From today to the 30th, BISEAN would be blogging from Kathmandu – 4,500 ft above sea level. Uhm…I didn’t know why I mentioned that “above sea level” thingy… but just so you know when our blog posts go a little mental...there's the culprit. LOL

We wanted to visit Nepal as a new Republic. Because the last time I was here, it was still a Kingdom. The Communists officially took over a few weeks ago – ending the 240-year-old monarchy *sobs*

We took the first flight of Thai Airways at 10:40 this morning and arrived at Tribhuvan Airport around 12:30pm. Thai Airways fly twice daily to Kathmandu.

This city is magical and pleasingly enchanting – just the mention of its name is enchanting enough that a true-blooded traveller would come here at least once a year.

Kathmandu is a world travel icon – no arguing about that. Only the most adventurous, the most cultured, the bravest would come here. Teeming with culture, unpretentious lifestyle and beautiful people -- Not everybody would have the chance to come to Nepal.

As any of our non-SE Asian destinations…the same problem roves above our heads – how can we make this trip connected to our blog’s main topic? *sigh*

We’ll try our best. Watch out for updates.

****

*To mom and dad: Stop the lecture about me coming to Nepal. This is my nth time and I know a lot of people here, so stop worrying about my trips. I love you both – but I don’t miss you yet. *kidding*

HOLY GUACAMOLE! HAS IT REALLY BEEN A YEAR?

I was checking out my calendar last night…

Hmm28th of March. I gawked at the date for a full 10 seconds…ok, 9! What?... 10 is a bit overacting? Heh?... But still, I can’t seem to remember which of my good-for-nothing friends is celebrating a birthday or sumthin’…

Three more seconds…nothin’… then BAM! It’s BISEAN’s first year anniversary! Well, I’ll be dang!

Who would have thought this blog would last a year? – Well, I did. Ha! Take that! And I intend to keep it goin’ for years till I prove to all of you that our region is p-a-r-a-d-i-s-e of great people.

More than 50 towns and cities in 9 countries (except Brunei, but we promise to visit this year) visited in one year…459 blog posts…614,000 hits… NOT BAD! Not bad at all. Woohoo!

To the little man who called us prostitutes, to the tiny maggot who wanted to take our naked pictures, to the social-climber who called us “mongrels”, to the loser who called us cheaters (huh?), to the call-center loser who called us “bi polar racists”, to the fugly dude who called us illiterates, to the all-knowing guy who called us “shallow” *although we took it as a compliment, mind ya*…. WHERE ARE YOU NOW? Ha! I demand a retraction!

And most of all… to you who is reading this right now…who has nothing bad to say to hurt our feelings…and kept leaving comments to let us know we are loved...kop khun mak khrap. Thank you very much for sharing the dream of a united Southeast Asia with us.

Now go back to work!

SHAME, SHAME, SHAME...

Excerpt from the opening speech of Dr. Surin Pitsuwanthe Secretary-General of the ASEAN – at the opening of the “ASEAN Awareness Survey” Discussion...

My initial perusal of the draft report found a few surprises, concerns and disappointments:

• the most common attitude towards ASEAN was “positive”;

• over 75% of students agreed with the statement “I feel I am a citizen of ASEAN” They may not know yet that the drafters of the ASEAN Charter felt that ASEAN was not yet ready to recognize the ASEAN “citizenship”, the way the European Union does recognize European citizenship; thus the ASEAN Charter is silent on the ASEAN citizenship;

• the positive sentiments were strongest in Laos, Cambodia and Viet Nam. I guess they are newcomers and get a lots of benefits by joining the group;

• the positive sentiment was weakest in Myanmar and Singapore;

• only 38.6% of the students in the Philippines could correctly identify the ASEAN flag -- this is quite serious, considering the fact that the Philippines was chairing ASEAN in 2006-2007, when this survey was conducted.

and worse, only 38.5% of the Thai students knew the ASEAN flag. I am afraid I have a lot more public information work to do in my own country, Thailand !” *end of quote*

The “Awareness of ASEAN” survey was carried out in 2007 at 10 universities in 10 ASEAN member nations. The Top 3 countries that are knowledgeable about the bloc are Vietnam (96%), Laos (93%) and Cambodia (92%). Myanmar is at the bottom with only 9.6%.

And for the rest of us? What a shame.

WHADDA?!...

Maybe some of you have noticed the Medal Tally right up there on the right hand side corner of the screen – the BISEAN [Sx] Games.

What the f*ck is it?... EXACTLY! It’s about f*ck.

Well, we started a little game among BISEANers who among us can sleep with the most number of gorgeous people in 2 weeks. Hey! We need to occupy our time! You got better idea? – None? So shut up. *and if you do, I don’t wanna hear it =)*

Anyways, none of us can go out partying alone. There’s a buddy system implemented to validate the “claim” for the day. Cheaters would be stripped, castrated and fed to the metrosexuals. *Eeew! Yuck!*

The winner would get bragging rights for the whole year and get to slap Mrs. Shinawatra on the face (optional, of course).

The gold, silver, and bronze medals are all explained right under the tally.
Any questions?

THIS (More or Less) SUMS IT ALL UP

Taoism: “Shit happens.”

Buddhism: “If shit happens, it isn't really shit.”

Islam: “If shit happens, it is the will of somebody up there.”

Catholicism: “If shit happens, you deserve it.”

Judaism: “Why does this shit always happen to us?”

Atheism: “I don't believe this shit.”

Have a nice day!

HELLO FROM BRUSSELS!

After days of silence without posting anything, well...we're back!

All of the BISEANers are back to Europe for the year-end-family-gathering holiday. Sofia is in Copenhagen, Morgan in Paris, Tommy in Stockholm and I'm saying HELLO to all of you from THE HEART OF EUROPE -- Brussels.

Anything in particular you would like us to feature? Perhaps SE Asian stuffs here in Brussels? Let me know. Give me a mission.

Regular posting would start tomorrow but we WON'T be blogging about Europe, ok? Let's be clear on that. Thank you all and we are happy to see you again here.
